Sipping this slightly peated malt, one would think it has to be from Islay with its grassy notes. But no, the Ardmore distillery is located in the Eastern Highlands region. Aged for 10 years in a refill barrel, it is a lesser known distillery that was acquired by Jim Beam in 2005 and is now part of the Suntory Holdings. Bottled at cask strength by Douglas Laing, the Old Particular, this was an exclusive again to K&L Wines. You will get notes of ripe orchard fruit, tangy spice, medicinal herbs and light smoke.

This is a perfect Sunday evening dram
