Review about the Compass Box – Lost Blend

For those of you who don’t know, Compass Box is a producer, bottler and marketer of a range of blended Scotch Whiskies.

This particular bottle, the Lost Blend, was bottled in August 2014 and is limited to 12018 bottles. This comprises of a blend of 3 different whiskies, majority of it being Clynelish, aged somewhere around 17-24 years, a 11 to 15 years of age Caol Ila , and whisky from the Allt-á-Bhainne distillery aged just shy of two decades.

There are three distinct labels for this bottles. I’ve had my hands on two of them. Still looking for the third one.

The color, at first It has a very light Straw like color to it. But don’t let that fool you.

Nose: Lemon and citrus with light hints of peat

Palate: Peat, definitely peat from cuhlila. Some more hints of citrus, leather and maybe even some ash. There are solid hints of a dark chocolate in here somewhere.

Finish: Smoke, spicy, not too long a finish, but a strong medium sweet and spicy finish.
